Motion Capture Response.

What I learned from this article is that motion capture has been around for a great period of time but is getting better as the years go on. This article states that soon we may not notice the difference between actor and animated actors. This only worries be a fraction because this plays into the whole "Computers are taking over the world, man." talk. However until machine enslaves all humanity I am looking forward into seeing motion picture progress and thrive. It is a great skill to have in any movie to bring certain scenes to life.

"Microphones, what you need to know." Response.

This article that was shared with us this week was about the different kinds of microphones used in video production. In each type of microphone there is a range from cheap to expensive. This article has stated that a cheap microphone does indeed hold a candle to an expensive microphone. The writer states that an expensive shotgun mic wouldn't even sound as good as a 39$ mic if the expensive one was used from across the room and the cheap mic was used closer.

"The Bay" response.

Director Barry Levinson is coming from a creative angle. Instead of using all the traditional point, shoot on tripod movie cameras he has decided to record footage on mobile phones such as the iPhone, Android, and other smart phones. This is interesting because this gives more of a "discovered" feeling on the footage that they filmed. I think this is a clever idea that will give a sense of realness to the movie. It will leave more of a mark on this film than if they did it traditionally.

What did I learn this week.

Between this week and last week I learned how to do time code math. I learned how to REALLY capture footage. I also learned that taxi meters are a frickin' rip! Much more to learn. Demo tomorrow. I'm SOOOO excited.

Importing and Exporting.

Today I learned how to import and export into premiere. It seems simple enough but NOTHING is ever as easy as it seems. I guess only time will tell when I have to actually export something. Wish me luck. I will need it :o
